Not all disposable filters are the same. Some cheap import filters are just a fibre pad. They do some of the job, but they still let through the grease that means maintenance costs later on. Swan Freshmesh disposables are different. They have a two-stage filter action. The first layer of filter fibres trap the larger particles of grease and airborne solids. Then they have an extra layer of fine mesh on the back. This traps the fine grease vapours that coat the inside of your fan and extractor hood cutting down that sticky varnish that builds up over time.
